MEXICO | Boss of Templarios is killed. On 10 March the newspaper El Universal could not resist headlining the main story of the day with, ‘This Time Yes, They Have Killed the Leader of the Templarios.’ Near Tumbiscatío in Michoacán, a combined army-navy unit killed Nazario Moreno González (‘el Chayo’ or ‘el Más Loco’), the leader of the Los Caballeros Templarios (LCT) drug trafficking organisation (DTO) that has been holding much of the state in its grip. Moreno had been proclaimed killed in December 2010, but corroboration was not possible then because, the authorities said, his followers had carried away his body.
