Hosting the Caribbean neighbours

The III Mexico-Caribbean Community (Caricom) Summit and the VI Summit of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) were hosted by the city of Mérida, Yucatán, in late April. Both forums addressed overlapping issues including agriculture, development, sustainable tourism and security. The government led by President Enrique Peña Nieto aims to increase cooperation with Mexico’s Caribbean neighbours.
