BOLIVIA | Shootdown law promulgated. On 22 April President Evo Morales promulgated the recently approved Ley de Seguridad y Defensa del Espacio Aéreo (Law of Security and Defence of the Airspace) which provides for the interception and use of force against unauthorised flights, which are classified in three categories: transgressors (those that voluntarily or involuntarily modify their original flight plan without notifying air traffic control), illicit (those which engage in activities on land or in flight with purposes that are incompatible with the norms of international civil aviation, violation of the airspace or criminal acts) and hostile (those that display evident acts of aggression, threat of attempts to escape).
