ARGENTINA: Government held hostage by Vice-President

On 9 June, for the first time in the history of the Argentine republic, a serving Vice-President appeared before a federal judge to testify as a suspect in a corruption case. While embattled Vice-President Amado Boudou seems to have been encouraged by new signs of support from President Cristina Fernández, some question whether she can in fact shore him up – or on the contrary, whether he will drag her down.
