ECONOMY: Fighting for growth
On 23 June President Humala changed three ministers in support of new measures to boost economic growth. The reshuffle comes as the government is seeking congressional support for a fresh economic stimulus package to boost public and private investment. The local economy grew by just 2% year-on-year in April, it’s slowest pace since 2009, after a fall of 9.6% and 8.9% in the key mining and construction sectors.
