POLITICS: Bachelet makes a Mapuche promise

One area in which President Michelle Bachelet has acknowledged that she had fallen short of her 56 initial pledges is the cause of the indigenous Mapuche. Indeed this issue has gone unresolved over the course of various administrations. With no sign of a promised bill establishing an indigenous affairs ministry, unrest is threatening again in the southern Araucanía region, where the indigenous Mapuche lay claim to ancestral lands
