EL SALVADOR: Sánchez Cerén unveils security plan

President Salvador Sánchez Cerén presented his government’s new security policy in mid-July to politicians and representatives of the business sector in the presidential palace. Anyone expecting a ground-breaking plan will have left disappointed. There is nothing especially innovative about the five-pronged plan, but if Sánchez Cerén actually manages to deliver on its content during his five-year tenure, he will have taken appreciable strides towards addressing the serious problem of insecurity in El Salvador.
