NICARAGUA: Speculation ends over ‘Gran Canal’ route

Nicaragua’s Frente Sandinista de Liberación Nacional (FSLN) government led by President Daniel Ortega and the Hong Kong-based HKND Group have finally unveiled the proposed route for the US$40bn inter-oceanic ‘Gran Canal’– Nicaragua’s biggest ever infrastructure project. The response from various sectors – ranging from the environmental to the private sector lobbies - has been sceptical at best.
