Michoacán’s political links to organised crime back in the spotlight

Recent developments have once again focused attention on the apparently close relationship between local political figures and organised crime in the troubled state of Michoacán. The state is administered by the federally-ruling Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI), leading to concern about the PRI’s susceptibility to infiltration by criminal organisations.
