It is well known that many small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Latin America and the Caribbean struggle to raise the financing they need. Perhaps less well known in the estimated size of this deficit. According to the Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC – part of the Inter American Development Bank group) the gap is somewhere between US$125bn and US$155bn.
