COSTA RICA: Costa Rica to create economic zone, with Chinese help

As China and Latin America’s love affair deepens, San José is one of the many suitors seeking to woo Beijing. In early January, President Luis Guillermo Solís travelled there for an hour-long meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping to discuss the creation of a special economic zone on Costa Rican soil. The two leaders signed an agreement to authorise a study on the viability of the idea, as well as a deal to facilitate the export of Costa Rican lobsters to the massive Chinese market.
