Drought continues to wreak havoc in Central America

The severe drought that has been affecting the Central American isthmus since the second half of 2014 [RC-09-14] is still having a major impact on the sub-region. With over two million people still considered in danger of starving in Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador and Nicaragua as a result of the devastating effect that the drought has had on local agricultural areas, the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) this month once again voiced concern that the situation could result in a humanitarian crisis.
