POLITICS: Moving on gender equality
On 8 March, International Women’s Day, President Michelle Bachelet announced the creation of a new ministry for women and gender equality. Replacing the current national institution tasked with improving gender equality, the Servicio Nacional de la Mujer (Sernam), the new ministry will be headed up by Sernam’s director, Claudia Pascual, and is expected to be fully operational by March 2016.
