MEXICO: Unrest in the north threatens electoral preparations

The federal government has been reacting anxiously to surges of violence that might jeopardise forthcoming elections. Inter-gang fighting in Tamaulipas and continuing protests about the Iguala mass abduction in Guerrero, plus sympathy actions in other states have commanded most attention.
