Renewed concerns about environmental activists in the Andean

The UK-based NGO Global Witness in April released an investigative report entitled, ‘How many more?’ focused on the recent increase in the number of environmental activists being murdered around the world. The report examined the global situation, but noted that in 2014, nearly three quarters of the 116 reported cases of killings of land and environmental defenders in 17 countries took place in Central and South America, with Colombia registering the second highest number of deaths after Brazil.
