President Enrique Peña Nieto promulgated a constitutional reform on 27 May creating a new National Anti-Corruption System (Sistema Nacional Anticorrupción), after its approval by the federal congress a month earlier. The multifaceted new system will not just rely on one body to combat corruption but several. Its success, however, will require cooperation from all state institutions and independent officials committed to rooting out impunity.
