MEXICO: Iguala case: flaws exposed, mystery still unsolved

If anything could be more embarrassing for the administration of President Enrique Peña Nieto than the flight from prison of Joaquín (‘el Chapo’) Guzmán it is the recently released independent report on the September 2014 abduction and presumed murder of 43 students in Iguala. This report corroborates the claims by the victim’s relatives and by previous independent assessments that the official version of events is seriously if not fatally flawed, and points to the authorities as responsible for the flaws.
