Reducing corruption remains one of Mexico’s most serious and daunting challenges. In April, the federal congress passed a law creating a new anti-corruption system, known as Sistema Nacional Anticorrupción. Further legislation will be required, together with the creation of new institutions, before the system becomes operational. The Mexico Institute, part of the US-based Wilson Centre, in September published a research paper entitled ‘Mexico: The Fight against Corruption’.
