Government pressing on with oil licensing

Mexico’s historic Round One oil and gas licensing auctions – the first in over seven decades – opened this year to what was widely seen as a bucket of cold water: the steep slump in international oil and gas prices. But Energy Minister Joaquín Coldwell is insisting that the country is playing the long game: on 21 October he announced that the government will pursue a 5-year licensing programme running between 2015 and 2019.
