Paraguay’s opposition denounces electoral violence, blames Cartes for insecurity

Development: On 2 November Líder Amarilla, the president of the association of mayors from Paraguay’s main opposition Partido Liberal Radical Auténtico (PLRA), said that a recent armed attack targeting a PLRA mayoral candidate in Caazapá department was politically motivated, and accused the government led by President Horacio Cartes of being responsible for the growing level of violence in the country in the run up to the 15 November municipal elections.
