President Ollanta Humala has officially set a date for next year’s general election – 10 April 2016. He called on all Peruvians to “participate actively” in the process and on the various candidates to put forward proposals to “create the country that we all wish for”. Corruption in Peruvian politics has dominated much of the past four years, but the problem stretches back well before that.
