GUATEMALA: Morales struggles with corruption pledges

President-elect Jimmy Morales is facing some question marks over his campaign pledge to crack down on corruption - a major factor in his 25 October presidential run-off victory for the small right-wing Frente de Convergencia Nacional (FCN-Nación) [RC-15-11]. With the head of his transition team, economist José Ramón Lam Ortiz, forced to step aside over plagiarism-related allegations, members of Morales’ inner circle have also been singled out as cause for concern by local commentators.
