Peru’s new president will need to know his way around the negotiating table

Peru’s newly confirmed president-elect, Pedro Pablo Kuczynski (PPK), who will oversee a minority government with just 18 of 130 seats in the unicameral legislature, has been under strong pressure to unveil his new cabinet, in order to signal the kinds of alliances he intends to strike up to ensure governability. Indeed, Kuczynski intends to announce his cabinet earlier than usual – on or around 12 July – well in advance of his official inauguration on 28 July.
