Costa Rica has rejoined the Central American Integration System (Sica) after a summit on the Caribbean island of Roatán in Honduras on 30 June. The Costa Rica government, led by President Luis Guillermo Solís, opted partially to pull out of Sica in December 2015 in the wake of what it denounced as a lack of solidarity from its neighbours in the sub-regional grouping to solve domestic difficulties triggered by an influx of Cuban migrants to the country.
