COSTA RICA: Costa Rica faces financial struggle

Costa Rica is running the risk of severe financial difficulty due to the rising fiscal deficit and public debt, the Instituto Centroamericano de Estudios Fiscales (Icefi) announced on 20 October. Icefi called upon both the Partido Acción Ciudadana (PAC) government led by President Luis Guillermo Solís and the political opposition to “urgently” reach an agreement over financial reform or risk an unsustainable growth in the deficit and public debt.
