Panama pressures DR over blacklisting

Last month Panama government officials focussed on the Dominican Republic (DR) as part of Panama’s campaign to be taken off all lists considering it a tax haven. During a visit to Panama by the DR’s foreign minister, Miguel Vargas Maldonado, Panama’s foreign minister and vice-president, Isabel Saint Malo de Alvarado, formally asked for her country to be removed from DR’s list of jurisdictions with lax tax controls. Saint Malo insisted that this was necessary to continue advancing bilateral economic integration.
