In brief: Venezuela’s year-end inflation lowest since 2015, says central bank

*Venezuela’s central bank (BCV) has released its latest consumer price index, which put monthly inflation in December at 2.4%, bringing total accumulated inflation in 2023 to 189.8%. This was the BCV’s lowest figure for accumulated annual inflation since 2015, and was down from 234.1% in December 2022. The BCV figures were slightly lower than those calculated by the independent economic think tank Observatorio Venezolano de Finanzas (OVF), which last week put Venezuela’s monthly inflation rate in December at 3.9% and its annual rate at 193%.
