With the 12 October general elections just weeks away, President Evo Morales appears set for another five-year term in office. The campaign period has been uneventful, underlining the opposition’s inability to offer any viable alternatives to the government’s poverty-reduction policies, which have ensured continued high approval ratings for the president.
