Even though the Colombian government and the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (Farc) guerrillas agreed to continue the peace negotiations after the 14 April guerrilla attack that claimed the lives of 11 soldiers and - more tellingly - that the government’s military delegation, led by the head of the joint chiefs of staff, General Javier Flórez Aristizábal, resumed talks on ‘de-escalation’ with its Farc counterparts in Havana, the episode has made an adverse impact on public opinion.
