HAITI: Presidential run-off confirmed

Haiti’s provisional electoral council (CEP) has announced the preliminary results from the first round of presidential elections on 25 October and the second round of national legislative elections. The results are proving controversial, with the second-placed presidential candidate, Jude Célestin, of Ligue Alternative pour le Progrès et l’Emancipation Haïtienne (Lapeh), who is due to face Jovenel Moïse, of President Michel Martelly’s Parti Haïtien Têt Kalé (PHTK) in the 27 December run-off, refusing to recognise them, citing fraud and irregularities.
