President Mauricio Macri continued with one of his government’s main priorities of opening Argentina up to the world by formally presenting his foreign minister, Susana Malcorra, as a candidate for secretary general of the United Nations (UN) this week. Malcorra had served as chef de cabinet to the incumbent secretary general, Ban Ki-moon, before assuming her present position last December. She would be the first female secretary general since the UN was created in 1945.
