Economic alarm bells start ringing in Mexico

Development: On 23 August the deputy governor of Mexico’s central bank (Banxico), Javier Guzmán, said that the downgrading of Mexico’s public debt credit rating, announced on the same day by international ratings agency Standard & Poor’s (S&P), represented an “amber warning” for the government.
