COLOMBIA: Paramilitary talks face crisis of credibility
Peace talks between the government and the Autodefensas Unidas de Colombia (AUC) began in Santa Fe de Ralito on 1 July amid much domestic fanfare, but the impact outside Colombia was negligible. The government has staked much on the negotiations but knows that without foreign support the process is almost certainly doomed to failure.
