Bribery scandal taints PT's image
Allegations that the ruling Partido dos Trabalhadores (PT) bribed allied congressmen to win support for the government have engulfed Brazil in the gravest political crisis the country has seen in recent years (see page 3). The case could destabilise the government and demoralise congress, and further lessen the already feeble trust in politicians among Brazilians. Several reputations could be tainted, not least that of President Lula da Silva.
