Pacheco plays down talk of crisis
'Why do people try to make everyone believe there is a crisis when everything is working? Could there be someone who wants to hurt Costa Rica by saying there is a crisis and insecurity? What insecurity?' This was the message that Costa Rica's President Abel Pacheco relayed to the press on 2 September following an emergency cabinet meeting called as a result of the resignation of six government officials, which effectively dismantled his administration's economic team.
