Fernández scores resounding victory in Dominican legislative elections

President Leonel Fernández insisted on taking a very active role in campaigning for the legislative elections in the Dominican Republic on 16 May. It paid off. His Partido de la Liberación Dominicana (PLD), poorly represented in both the senate and the chamber of deputies before the elections, will now be a dominant force in both.
