MEXICO: Moreno defies legal challenge to seek re-election
The president of Mexico’s Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI), Alejandro ‘Alito’ Moreno, officially registered to run for re-election on 22 July. Four days earlier a member of the electoral tribunal (TEPJF) accepted a legal challenge to the reform of PRI party statutes allowing Moreno to seek re-election as president of the formerly dominant opposition party.
