PANAMA: Torrijos's legislative majority confirmed
It has now been confirmed that President-elect Martín Torrijos will be able to rule from 1 September with a comfortable majority in the legislative assembly, at least as far as ordinary business is concerned. His Partido Revolucionario Democrático (PRD) has also emerged as the largest Panamanian bloc in the Central American parliament, and controls a majority of Panama's 75 mayoralties.
