MEXICO: Party created to field Castañeda
A new party has been created as a `platform' for the presidential aspirations of former foreign minister Jorge Castañeda. México Ciudadano has been set up by people with a provenance not dissimilar to its candidate's: the `renewalist' faction of the Communist party, social-democrats and likeminded `friends of Castañeda' - all determined to rid Mexico of partidocracia, or party-dominated rule.
