URUGUAY | Union pressures government over key issues. Uruguay’s umbrella trade union Plenario Intersindical de Trabajadores-Convención Nacional de Trabajadores (PIT-CNT), is staging a partial general strike on 12 August over employment and salaries, working hours, and education, among other issues included in its national development plan, which it has been presenting to political parties in recent days.
