CHILE | New Codelco leadership. Bernardo Fontaine took over as the new chairman of Chile’s state-run copper company Codelco on 26 May. Fontaine, a well-known economist from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC), replaces Máximo Pacheco, who has come under fire from cabinet ministers in the far-right government led by President José Antonio Kast, over how Codelco has been run.
