*Honduras’ energy ministry has announced an intervention to stabilise the price of diesel via a subsidy of L12.01 (US$0.44) per gallon. In a statement, the energy ministry said it was aiming to “reduce the impact of international fuel price increases on the economy”, in particular “the impact that an increase in the price of diesel could have on public transport and freight, the distribution of food and inputs, agriculture, and other productive activities”. The subsidy is a temporary measure that will apply from today (5 October) with an initial duration of 30 days. The government also said that it would maintain a L54.00 subsidy per cylinder of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for domestic use.
