In brief: Argentina’s Telecom accepts offer on Telefónica assets
*Argentine telecommunications company Telecom Argentina has accepted an offer of US$450m from Metrotel, a local telecommunications and fibre-optic infrastructure company, to acquire a customer base and certain assets of Telefónica Móviles Argentina (TMA), the former Argentine subsidiary of Spanish telecommunications company Telefónica, which Telecom Argentina acquired in February 2025. According to a filing by Telecom Argentina, it accepted Metrotel’s offer after Argentina’s anti-trust tribunal (TDC) approved Metrotel as purchaser. This is in line with conditions set out by the TDC in June for Telecom Argentina’s acquisition of TMA amid concerns that the deal breaches competition regulations.
