COLOMBIA: De la Espriella doubles down on security promises
During a trip to Colombia’s eastern border department of Arauca on 19 October, President Abelardo de la Espriella repeated his promise to launch a “total offensive” by the armed forces to defeat rebel groups such as the Ejército de Liberación Nacional (ELN) and dissident units of the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (Farc).
