CHILE: Kast struggling to contain justice scandal
On 30 October Chile’s President José Antonio Kast dismissed his deputy justice minister, Luis Silva, amid a scandal over reduced sentences granted to more than 50 inmates convicted of sexual abuse and paedophilia, most of whom obtained early release.
