BANANAS: The EU heatwave has depressed demand for Ecuadorean bananas. The country said that in the first half of the year it had been exporting an average of 345,000t of bananas a month to the EU. Since July this has dropped to 275,000t. Banana prices in the EU have dropped to under US$10 per 18-kg box.
