Fernando Londoño Hoyos yesterday resigned from the post of interior and justice minister in the cabinet of Colombia's president Alvaro Uribe. It seems he was forced out; earlier the same day he told reporters that he had no intention to step down, and that if he lost his position it would be because 'Uribe wanted someone else'. He has been replaced by Sabas Pretelt de La Vega, formerly leader of the Federación Nacional de Comerciantes (Fenalco) the retailers' association.
