COLOMBIA: ELN hints at U-turn on hostages
The Ejército de Liberación Nacional (ELN) has said that it is willing to free the five foreign tourists it is holding before the end of the year provided that the Colombian government grants it a demilitarised zone for the handover process. Bogotá wants greater clarification from the rebels, who have been holding the hostages - four Israelis and one Briton - since September.
