The IMF yesterday approved its first review of the US$12.5bn loan deal signed with Argentina in September 2003. The Fund clearly has some major concerns; not only was the approval delayed by 40 days, but also eight of the 24 board members abstained from voting rather than endorse Argentina's progress under the deal.
