President Ricardo Maduro has named Luis Enrique Garcí­a, Honduras's deputy chief of police, as the new director of San Pedro Sula prison, where 104 inmates died in a fire last week. Maduro has come under intense pressure to reform the creaking national prison system, which has been under increasing strain since the passage of his tough new law last year to clamp down on the mara street gangs.
